The openings in Chicago and Nashville expand the Australian fashion house’s American retail presence, with each location reflecting its design-led approach to store environments and local creative influences
Zimmermann has opened two new U.S. boutiques, in Chicago and Nashville, extending its retail presence in the American market through locations designed in collaboration with long-term architectural partner Studio McQualter. The Chicago boutique is located at Plaza Del Lago in Wilmette, Illinois, while the Nashville location marks the brand’s first store in the Tennessee city, at the newly developed Wedgewood Village.

In Chicago, the multi-level boutique draws on Plaza Del Lago’s Spanish-style architecture, using natural light and an open layout to create a warm interior. The design incorporates collectible vintage furnishings, sculptural lighting and contemporary art, including a blue glass vase by Gaetano Pesce, restored 1950s Murano Alami wall sconces and a window sculpture by Australian artist Alfred Lowe. Upstairs, a lounge area features mid-century seating, a vintage Willy Rizzo lamp and a custom rug by Halcyon Lake, while the fitting room includes a sculptural Locus Solus chair by Gae Aulenti.
The Chicago opening reflects Zimmermann’s approach to developing individual retail environments while maintaining a consistent architectural identity. “Chicago is a city with such a strong creative identity, where incredible architecture, art and design come together in a way that is especially meaningful for us. We wanted to design a boutique that feels just as warm, vibrant and inviting as its surroundings. Our Chicago boutique offered an opportunity for us to create a unique expression of ZIMMERMANN while taking inspiration from the local environment and I love how this project has come together,” said Nicky Zimmermann, creative director and co-founder.
In Nashville, the boutique takes a similarly residential approach, combining custom terrazzo, stone, mirror and stainless steel with vintage furnishings, decorative lighting and an international art collection. Viola marble plinths frame the entrance, while warm caramel tones, burnt-red wool carpeting and Indonesian ikat textiles introduce texture throughout the space. A dedicated accessories room uses a saturated green interior and salon-style art installation featuring works by Enrico Baj, May Chapman and Richard Lindner. The lounge, anchored by a work from Australian artist Belem Lett above the fireplace, includes vintage lighting by Paul Evans and Curtis Jeré alongside bespoke seating and a Peter Ghyczy coffee table.

Zimmermann described Nashville as a natural addition to the brand’s U.S. network, citing the city’s growing cultural presence and its developing art, design, fashion and hospitality scenes. The Nashville boutique opens with the Fall 2026 collection, while the Chicago location launches with Cruise 2027. Together, the openings reflect the brand’s continued investment in physical retail environments that extend its identity beyond the collections through architecture, art and collectible design.
The Chicago boutique is located at 1515 Sheridan Road, Suite 6B, Wilmette, Illinois, within Plaza Del Lago. The Nashville boutique is located at 505 Houston Street, Nashville, Tennessee, within Wedgewood Village.
