Alexander Wang

On/Off Fall 2019 Ad Campaign by Julien Martinez Leclerc

Alexander Wang has always been comfortable marching to his own beat. Showcasing his collections in New York away from the seasonal fashion weeks, designing his logo to match the needs of digital, and launching campaigns as digital drops to align with his collection releases.

For the designer’s most recent campaign entitled On/Off, Wang teamed with London based portrait and fashion photographer Julien Martinez Leclerc. Leclerc comes at fashion with a more artisanal perspective having grown up the son of a Parisian art dealer who strongly participated in educating his eye for paintings and drawings. His early experimentations with sculpture and design revealed his ability to organize lines and shapes in a harmonious fashion which plays into this campaign lensed with a distorted fisheye lens.

The campaign is a metaphor for how Alexander Wang has translated his business to the digital age, bending lines and timelines to suit his needs while painting a distinctive vision that remains eye-catching.
