Nine displays highlight history, landmarks, and holiday traditions
Bergdorf Goodman officially launched its 2024 holiday season with the unveiling of its annual holiday windows, themed “Toast of the Town.” The Fifth Avenue luxury retailer revealed the displays last night in an event led by designer Michael Kors, Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, and Santa Claus. Despite rainy weather, the trio energized an enthusiastic crowd before revealing this year’s window designs.
The 2024 windows celebrate Fifth Avenue’s 200th anniversary, with nine installations developed over the past year by Bergdorf Goodman’s in-house design team. Each window explores a specific aspect of Fifth Avenue’s cultural and historical significance.
One display pays homage to the avenue’s parks, including Marcus Garvey Park and Washington Square, using vivid green hues to depict creatures, statues, and foliage. Another window highlights the city’s bustling energy through the iconic yellow taxi. The New York Public Library lions are featured in a rich red setting, surrounded by literary references. Other windows showcase landmarks, historic buildings, and monumental clocks, representing the sightseeing experience associated with the famed thoroughfare.
Bergdorf Goodman itself is celebrated in a lavender-hued display symbolizing the fantastical fashion found within the store. Across the street at the Men’s store, windows focus on holiday traditions, from parades to walking tours, all in the spirit of Fifth Avenue.
Designers featured in this year’s displays include Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Thom Browne, Grace Ling, and Prabal Gurung, among others.
