Zanin Moves Into the Newly Created Role After Nearly 25 Years as the Head of Leather Goods Product Development
Bottega Veneta has appointed Barbara Zanin, who has been the house’s head of leather goods product development since 2001, to the newly created role of head of crafts and heritage. Zanin, who has been with the company for over 25 years, will work closely with Creative Director Matthieu Blazy and CEO Leo Rongone to preserve and promote the brand’s artisanal crafts expertise.
Zanin stated,
Craftsmanship is the foundation of the Bottega Veneta ethos. It is what initially attracted me to this label when I joined 23 years ago. It makes our products distinctive, unites our community, and inspires endless evolution and creativity.”
She also established the Accademia Labor et Ingenium, the label’s vocational school, to teach the techniques developed by their master artisans since the brand’s inception in 1966.
Bottega Veneta’s decision to create a role dedicated to fostering artisanal craftsmanship reflects a focus on leather accessories, a key category in the strategies of luxury labels, amidst a slowdown in the luxury market.
