Miu Miu Hosts Literary Club in Milan

The ongoing program continues its exploration of desire, sexuality, and self-determination through literature and discourse

Miu Miu held the second day of its Literary Club 2026 on April 23 at the Circolo Filologico Milanese, as part of this year’s theme, “Politics of Desire.” Now in its fourth iteration, the initiative, directed by Miuccia Prada, continues to position the brand within a broader cultural dialogue around sexuality, consent, and contemporary identity.

The day opened with a conversation titled “Changes: A Love Story,” centered on the work of Ghanaian writer Ama Ata Aidoo. First published in 1991, the novel examines themes of independence, marriage, and gender dynamics through the story of a woman navigating divorce and a subsequent polygamous relationship. The discussion featured Italian novelist and screenwriter Francesca Marciano, Liberian-American author Wayétu Moore, and Surinamese-Dutch anthropologist Gloria Wekker, moderated by journalist Nadia Beard.

A second session, “How Do We Talk About Consent?,” focused on contemporary perspectives around sexuality and agency. Author Katherine Angel, whose 2021 book Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again explores the complexities of desire and consent, led the lecture, introduced by film critic Elisa Cuter.

The program brought together an international audience, with guests including Emma Corrin, who introduced the morning session. The event forms part of Miu Miu’s broader strategy to engage with cultural and intellectual discourse through curated programming that extends beyond fashion.

The Literary Club will conclude on April 24 with a final public-facing day, during which the venue will be transformed into a reading room featuring a curated selection of books by philosopher Rosi Braidotti. The closing format emphasizes open access and community engagement, reinforcing the initiative’s focus on literature as a space for shared reflection and dialogue.
