Spring 2024 Ad Campaign

Review of Calvin Klein Spring 2024 Ad Campaign by Photographer & Director Mert Alas with model Kendall Jenner

Kendall takes New York in the latest Spring 2024 campaign from Calvin Klein, lensed by photographer Mert Alas.

The campaign follows the same strong formula as the brand’s recent, buzzworthy menswear campaigns that starred Jeremy Allen White and Idris Elba, but expands into womenswear with a new celebrity muse: Kendall Jenner.

The campaign follows Kendall on a free afternoon as she explores the streets of Manhattan, bathed in golden hour light and cutting a sophisticatedly cool figure against the city’s iconic facades. The accompanying short film amplifies the playful, liberated energy, seeing the model cut loose and splash around in a fountain to the sounds of The Runaways’ iconic “Cherry Bomb.”

Though its aesthetic of minimal chic and its character as an ode to New York are both advertising themes we’ve seen countless times before, the campaign executes both of these elements well, and takes on further impact as a chapter in an ongoing series that celebrates individuality and individual style. In this connection, though, Kendall Jenner feels like a less strong casting choice than the uniquely talented actors who starred in CK’s previous campaigns.

But the campaign is still another direct statement of the brand’s signature take on effortless, minimally elegant classics, and is sure to look great on both social media and billboards putting a further stamp of ownership over the city where it was shot.
