Coco Neige 2021 Ad Campaign

Review of Chanel Coco Neige 2021/22 Collection Ad Campaign by Photographers Inez & Vinoodh with singer Jennie

Chanel channels star power and fresh powder for a new campaign in celebration of its Coco Neige 2021/22 collection. Photography duo Inez & Vinoodh capture the iconic Jennie Kim of K-Pop mega group Blackpink.

The Coco Neige collection (for the less Franco-inclined of us, neige means snow) brings signature Chanel style to a range of aprè-ski ready-to-wear and accessories: luxurious knits, down jackets, comfy leisurewear, and even a ski bib that cuts a striking silhouette. Thoughtful and practical accessories like arm-strap compartment bags and phone holsters finish out the looks with some chic functionality.

Inez & Vinoodh’s portraits emphasize the warmth, color, and character of the collection, but the main focus is Jennie’s undeniable star power. Her eyes behind a black fishnet veil, she brings a sense of drama, poise, and elegance to each image.

Jennie might not be the first talent we think of when it comes to skiwear, but the second film that accompanies the main spot sees the singer reflect on childhood memories of playing in the snow and ski trips, giving us a fun connection that is more than just about leveraging celebrity. It’s also nice to hear her talk about how it feels to wear the collection and be styled in a Chanel campaign.

Considering her endless legions of fans and the number of times she’s made waves wearing Chanel on the red carpet, Jennie is a no-brainer casting choice for a Chanel campaign. Add to the mix Inez & Vinoodh’s photographic focus and Virginie Viard’s elegant yet fun designs, and Coco Neige is sure to make a big impact – on the slopes and on the socials.
