Showcase explores iconic photographer’s work alongside Dior’s fashion legacy
This autumn, La Galerie Dior at 30 Montaigne is hosting a tribute to renowned photographer Peter Lindbergh (1944-2019) with an exhibition of more than 100 images captured between 1988 and 2018. The exhibit explores a unique dialogue between Lindbergh’s photography and the iconic Dior silhouettes, highlighting the architecture, essence, and allure of the designs.
For the first time, the public will be able to view prints from Lindbergh’s notable 2018 photo shoot in New York City, where he staged over eighty Dior creations from designers including Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, and Maria Grazia Chiuri. “While Haute couture is closely linked with an idea of perfection and the mastery of every detail, I wanted to transport 70 years of Dior creations to an unexpected place,” Lindbergh reflected at the time. The photographs captured the garments in everyday movement, embodying the “spirit of life” and reflecting the contemporary essence of Dior.
The retrospective highlights the longstanding relationship between Dior and Lindbergh, emphasizing their mutual dedication to showcasing the singular beauty of women through their respective crafts.
