Brooklyn Artists Ball was held at the Brooklyn Museum. Guests gathered to celebrate the annual fundraising event’s guest of honor: multidisciplinary artist and visionary Carrie Mae Weems.
For the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed artworks by Mickalene Thomas created for the event. Thomas worked closely with Dior to select décor inspired by Weems’ series Slow Fade to Black (2010), which highlights Black women in popular culture.
At the seated dinner in the iconic Beaux Arts Court, the Museum’s Director, Anne Pasternak, welcomed guests. Notable attendees included Creative Director of Dior Women’s Maria Grazia Chiuri, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Tracee Ellis Ross, Christian Serratos, Antonia Gentry, Kiersey Clemons, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Thomas Doherty, Eli Brown, Derek Blasberg, Spencer Sweeney, Robin Morgan, Anne Collier, Victor Alfaro, Mariko Mori, Shohei Shigematsu, and Mariane Ibrahim, to name a few. American-British singer, Celeste closed the dinner with a special performance.
To finish the evening, the Artist Ball After Party was headlined by producer, rapper, and Brooklyn Museum Trustee, Swizz Beatz.
