Fendi Boutique Reimagined for Design Miami/ 2020

This year Fendi’s Design Miami/ shop, which originally opened in 2015, was reenvisioned by New York-based artist Sarah Coleman. The artist created a series of one-of-a-kind chairs, including a large wicker chair that prominently sits in the shop window. Fendi wrapped the storefront in Coleman’s playful ‘FF’ pattern in the house’s signature yellow, also on display in the storefront.

Coleman serves as the inspiration for Fendi’s Design Miami/ shop, as the project centers around her design ethos of repurposing, invention, and reimagination. Coleman’s designs employ fabrics from Fendi’s vintage handbags, which she used to reupholster furniture; she also collages a chair with reproduced Fendi archival imagery on vintage magazine paper. The late 1970s were a large inspiration for the artist. The interior reflects Coleman’s nod to the past while incorporating modern design elements.
