Helmut Lang has announced the appointment of Peter Do as creative director, effective May 15, 2023. Do will oversee all creative responsibilities for women’s and men’s collections. His debut collection, Spring 2024, will be presented during New York Fashion Week in September.

Do will be based in the Helmut Lang design studio located at Fast Retailing’s Design and Innovation Center in New York City and will report to Helmut Lang’s Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Tandon.

No one embodied radical thinking more definitively than Helmut Lang. It is my deep honor to be entrusted with ushering in the next chapter of Helmut Lang’s legacy. I am excited to learn from the foundations this house stands on and to continue creating new, energetic clothes that inspire people to challenge their understanding of what is possible when it comes to expressing their individuality.”

– Peter Do

Launched in 1986, Helmut Lang quickly became one of the leaders in defining the minimal and deconstructivist aesthetics that characterized much of late 80s and early 90s fashion trends – a legacy that is still celebrated today. Led by its eponymous founder and creative director until 2005, the brand has since gone through several changes in ownership and creative directors.

After working under Phoebe Philo during her iconic tenure at Céline and then at Derek Lam, Peter Do launched his eponymous label in 2018, offering a decisive and imaginative take on tailoring and contemporary minimalism. He will remain at the helm of his own brand as he takes on the additional role at Helmut Lang.
