Love is a verb, Best of British, Quintessential Jordanluca
It’s not often that fashion shows can surprise without resorting to overblown spectacles, and for those expecting a run-of-the-mill runway show from Jordanluca, we were instead witnesses – quite literally – to the design duo declaring their love and making it official by getting married as their Fall 2025 show finale.
Any sceptics in the crowd (who may have been thinking publicity stunt) were quickly won over by the genuine display of Jordan Bowen and Luca Marchetto’s love for each other. Love being the key theme for Fall 2025 Bowen and Marchetto sought to demonstrate how ‘love’ – especially in the current climate – is a verb and works best when in action. Today’s show notes take the sentiment further and state that love is a “radical act that can change everything”. And while it may not have appeared as a political statement, their call for us to treat love as vital is about as political as you can get without causing offence, and Bowen and Marchetto ask us to consider love as the way we move forward “into whatever comes next”. Acknowledging that whatever that is, is anyones guess, but in their ultimate act they are choosing optimism over apathy.
Alongside the major existential themes that I predict will form the basis of this menswear season designers will also continue doubling down on their brand codes to remind their customers of what brought them to the brand and why they stayed. This season their casting choice included their “friends and loved ones” – a natural choice when considering the event which followed – who wore a selection of their greatest hits which were also a celebration of Britishness through collaborations with “English and Scottish mills and suppliers, including Harris Tweed and Marton Mills”. There were also graphic art references to Stone Henge, British Bulldogs and English Roses prints. Rose’s – a common symbol of love, romance, and devotion – were also carried by a number of models throughout the show.

THE QUOTE
It’s easy to underestimate loves power by seeing it as something domestic and sweet. We often make distinctions between romantic love, platonic love, familial and humanitarian love, but the love between two people that may seem private and strictly romantic is the very same love that can travel in an outward motion affecting everything it comes into contact with.

THE WRAP UP
The return of Cool Britannia – seen last season at Burberry, No21, and Prada with the rise of the Parka and party dress and influenced by the return of Oasis in 2025 – could also be seen in the Duffle Coat updates, trench coats modernised with drop-waists and fur-trimmed rainwear.
