Paris Designer Louis-Gabriel Nouchi Channels Cold-Blooded Menace
Paris-based designer Louis-Gabriel Nouchi took a dark and sinister turn with his latest collection, drawing inspiration from the visceral themes of basic human instincts explored in the novel “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” by Patrick Süskind.
Describing his inspiration after the show, Nouchi shared, “It was a very violent read. The way it’s written, you feel the [described] sensation physically, and this is really what I wanted in this collection.”
To bring the essence of smells to life, Nouchi incorporated waxed leathers, silky jerseys, and jacquards with a splatter motif designed in collaboration with French artist Sasha Ferré.
Keeping his cuts formal for both men and women, Nouchi focused on texture and fabric feel, reinventing pinstripes as leather bands and vertical slashes, inspired by artist Lucio Fontana.
The collection’s narrow palette of black, oxblood, and white added an obsessive and sinister quality to the models, who sported glossy slip-on mules from Nouchi’s collaboration with Puma.
With realistic and strict yet not austere silhouettes, Nouchi’s Spring 2025 collection showcased killer tailoring and a nod to the timeless allure of dangerous sensuality.
