From Sunnei’s playfully chic use of cartoony craft to Antonio Marras’ regal yet rebellious celebration of a historical feminist legend, the standout collections of the Fall 2024 season in Milan prove that the Italian fashion scene has much more to offer than the major luxury brands for which it may be better known internationally.
At his eponymous label, Daniel Del Core utilized a mastery of just a few structural techniques, with a particular emphasis on draping and corset-like structures (without the constriction), and a brilliant use of zips, to reference organic structures and the natural process of metamorphosis and craft a singular vision of expressive elegance.
Calcaterra takes home the top spot with a collection that explored asymmetry, soft structure, and volume, showing that this independent house can do minimalist luxury with the best of them.
