Prada and Carey Mulligan explore the multiplicity and personality at the heart of fashion with the brand’s Spring 2025 womenswear campaign, “Acts Like Prada.” Shot by photographer Steven Meisel, the campaign continues the brand’s ongoing collaboration with creative director Ferdinando Verderi.

The creative approach wisely extends two of the signature concepts that have defined this highly successful collaboration: the thoughtful use of actors for the cast, and the smart “Feels Like Prada” tagline from the house’s Fall 2021 campaign.

While Mulligan may be the only cast member this time around, she steps up to bring more than enough personality – or personalities. Chameleonically styled in the bright, intellectual eclecticism of the collection (with accompanying hair and makeup changes), she embodies a range of distinctive personae. In each look, she feels utterly unique and individual, yet her familiar charm and presence as a renowned actor still shine through in every portrait, speaking to the tension of the ever-changing and the never-changing that remains at the heart of fashion.

The accompanying short film further lends a dynamic and subtly fantastical quality to these portraits of personality. Atmospherically intensified by a sculptural soundscape that buzzes like a broken radio or sci-fi device, Mulligan seems to phase in and out of reality, telekinetically transmogrifying between the many aspects of her characters and herself.

The campaign is another excellent example of Prada’s ability to pick up right where it left off, remaining totally consistent to its previous campaign output while giving us something fresh and unexpected. The visual perspective continues to be slick and minimalist, but never boring, as the eclectic and colorful designs and powerful sense of persona fill this blank canvas with a thrilling statement of unstoppable style. At once eternally in touch yet impossible to pin down, Prada continues to be one of the most creative and relevant forces in fashion communication.
