The physicality of Spring 2020 RTW fashions were reflected in the materiality of the shows’ invitations, from cards that mimicked Givenchy’s treatment of premium denim by Clare Waight Keller, to Louis Vuitton’s embossed leather envelopes ensconcing heavy bond paper invites with calligraphic flourishes. Stand outs include Chanel’s invitation emulating arching rooftop architecture, which provided a sneak peek of the runway set by Virginie Viard, and translucent recycled acrylic invitations from Rick Owens.
White polo shirts with multi-colored threads served as Lacoste’s invitations, fitted with tags that provided show details including location and seating (pictured above). Redemption’s invitations revived the art of the Polaroid, which we haven’t seen in awhile, and highlighted the medium’s uniquely tactile quality through the application of printed masking tape to the black backing (pictured below).
