Top 10 Fashion Films of Spring 2022

The Best Fashion Films of the Spring 2022 Season as chosen by Kenneth Richard

A consistent thread through our best fashion films for this season is a keen sensitivity to the power of the medium of film in communicating the image and identity of a brand. Both visually and conceptually, these films do excellent work to create strong narratives that pull us deeper into the world behind a designer’s creative vision.

Dior tapped creative director Fabien Baron to serve up some studio wizardry and create a geometric and futuristic pop-art discotopia that was a focus expression of creative director Maria Graza Chiuri’s fresh – though historically minded – design direction for the house.

Gucci did what Gucci does best, bringing together an eclectic cast of stars and letting the cameras roll on a night of tantalizingly dreamy and still-sophisticated debauchery.

It’s always great to see a collection in person, but the poetic effects of director Sophie Muller’s time-lapse and multiple-exposure cinematography and the power of the sky and wind really drew out the character, motion, and presence of Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2022 collection – inspired by the sky and clouds – in a way that seeing a model simply walk couldn’t.

Here are the Top 10 Fashion Films of Spring 2022 as selected by our Chief Impressionist, Kenneth Richard.
