Eight designers have been selected as finalists for the 2025 International Woolmark Prize, one of the fashion industry’s most prestigious awards. The finalists, chosen from hundreds of global applicants, are recognized for their commitment to innovation and sustainability. Competing for the top honor, they will showcase collections that push the boundaries of Merino wool’s versatility and eco-friendly qualities.

The 2025 International Woolmark Prize finalist list comprises ACT N°1 of Italy, Diotima of the USA, Duran Lantink of the Netherlands, Ester Manas of Belgium, LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi of France, Luar of the USA, Meryll Rogge of Belgium, and Standing Ground of the UK and Ireland.

In a notable addition, IB Kamara, the Editor-in-Chief of Dazed and Creative Director of Off-White, joins as the Guest Artistic Director for this year’s event. Kamara’s creative vision is known for blending style and pop culture while promoting inclusivity. “I’m honoured to be joining the amazing team at Woolmark for the 2025 Woolmark Prize, bringing fresh creativity as we celebrate these design talents,” Kamara said. “It’s so important that we nurture and inspire the talent who are shaping the future of the fashion industry.”

The 2025 edition marks the debut of the Woolmark Prize’s new biennial format. According to Woolmark Managing Director John Roberts, “The prize represents Woolmark’s continued social commitment, a sharing of resources, enduring support of local artisans, and mission to lead the industry on a journey to nature positive.” Each finalist will receive AU$60,000 to develop a Merino wool collection and access to mentorship through the Innovation Academy.

The finalists will present six Merino wool looks, either as part of their Fall 2025 collection or as a stand-alone, with at least one piece highlighting wool innovations. The winner will receive an AU$300,000 prize to invest in their business. Finalists will also have the chance to retail their collections through the International Woolmark Prize Retailer Network.

The event will also feature two additional awards: the Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation and the Supply Chain Award, recognizing leadership and innovation in sustainable practices.

This year’s Innovation Academy will provide finalists with support from experts in areas like product development, commercial growth, and sustainability. Partners include Tilting the Lens, The Mills Fabrica, Gruppo Florence, and others, offering finalists early-stage investment, mentorship, and networking opportunities.
