The Appointment Comes as the Pinault Family-Owned Company Looks to Build on Continued Growth
Marie Leblanc has been appointed as the new CEO of Courrèges, effective November 4th, following the departure of Adrien Da Maia, the former managing director since 2020. The announcement was made by Artémis, the Pinault family’s holding company that controls Courrèges and Kering. Leblanc, who previously led Victoria Beckham as CEO, steps into the role with a mandate to continue the brand’s growth and work closely with Nicolas Di Felice, the creative director of Courrèges.
François-Henri Pinault, CEO of Kering and Artémis, expressed confidence in Leblanc’s leadership. “Marie’s unique talent lies in her ability to fully immerse herself in the creative process, ensuring it remains constantly aligned with the brand’s identity, while crafting an operational strategy that supports and enhances this creative vision,” Pinault said. He also praised Da Maia for his contributions, stating, “I would like to wholeheartedly thank Adrien Da Maia, who has skillfully led the renewal of Courrèges since 2020, allowing the brand to be well positioned for a new successful chapter in its history.”
Da Maia, credited with revitalizing Courrèges, leaves to pursue an entrepreneurial project after overseeing impressive growth at the brand. Under his leadership, Courrèges saw triple-digit growth in 2021 and 2022 and was on track to double its business in 2023. One of Da Maia’s key moves was appointing Di Felice, who has helped reinvigorate the brand with a focus on a younger audience and conceptual fashion shows.
Leblanc joins Courrèges after a successful tenure at Victoria Beckham, where she transformed the company into a profitable lifestyle brand and repositioned it on the global fashion stage, including showcasing collections at Paris Fashion Week. Reflecting on her new role, Leblanc said, “Courrèges embodies a clear purpose, blending rigor and movement, impeccable cuts and high standards, with the opportunity to connect with diverse customers. I look forward to working with the team to deploy the brand’s great potential.” Leblanc’s extensive experience in the fashion industry also includes leadership roles at Printemps, Isabel Marant, and Celine.
