Dior has officially announced Rosalía as their latest global ambassador, revealing her first advertising campaign for the luxury fashion house. The Spanish music star is featured in new ads for the Lady Dior handbag, photographed by Collier Schorr.
Speaking about Rosalía, Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of womenswear at Dior, said, “I immediately fell in love with Rosalía’s music. I then looked deeper into her work and was truly struck by her dedication as both a musician and producer. I was especially fascinated by how this young artist was able to reinterpret and reactivate the sounds and clothing associated with flamenco, transposing them to a more modern and contemporary framework.”
Rosalía, known for her Gothic style, showcased a series of all-black ensembles, including an haute couture look for the Met Gala designed by Stephen Jones.
For the Dior show in Paris, Rosalía opted for a more casual look with a cropped quilted jacket and skirt. In the Lady Dior campaign, she poses in timeless looks against a bare stage, embodying a modern form of womanhood.
Since 2016, Dior has been working with female photographers to create a space for the female gaze in fashion photography. Rosalía joins a roster that includes Natalie Portman and Charlize Theron as Dior ambassadors.
It marks the first time since 2016 that a celebrity has fronted an advertising campaign for Lady Dior, closely associated with Princess Diana. Marion Cotillard and other brand ambassadors have previously appeared in campaign ads.
Rosalía, known for her eclectic style, has also appeared in campaigns for other brands like Acne Studios and Skims. Her partnership with Dior represents a new chapter in her fashion journey.
