Review of Piombo Fall 2022 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Paolo Santambrogio with models Savannah Huitema, Oliver Kumbi, Florence Clapcott, and Simon Nessman
by Aidel Townsley
Piombo released their 2022 Fall campaign with creative director Paolo Santambrogio, featuring models Savannah Huitema, Oliver Kumbi, Florence Clapcott, and Simon Nessman. Overcast skies and shadowy filters that enhance contours captures the brands prep school looks, while London’s most notable sights serve as a backdrop.
Accessible yet distant, pattern clashing and 1970’s details ads character to otherwise school uniform simplicity. Comfortable in its commonality yet unmistakably high-quality and upscale, a posh yet remote attitude imbues a grief into a world that would appear otherwise comfortable. Historic landmarks of the British empire speaks to this idea of monuments made dim by lighting, perspective, and mourning.
This campaign truly demonstrates the various autumnal moods. The season of family, friends, and cozy sweaters is a transition to times of darkness and frigidity. The death of natural world and sunny skies is also an opportunity to lean on each other for support, and find solace in our colorful knits and oversized blazers.
