Uniqlo and Central Saint Martins Debut Upcycled Capsule in London

The Everyday Re.Imagined collection turns returned Uniqlo garments into one-of-a-kind pieces, co-created with BA Fashion graduates

Uniqlo has unveiled Everyday Re.Imagined, a 10-piece upcycled capsule developed in collaboration with graduates from the BA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. The collection, which debuted at a London event this week, repurposes returned Uniqlo items, with each piece produced in limited quantity and designed to stand apart from the brand’s standardized output.

The project was developed through Uniqlo’s Europe sustainability office and positions circular design as a creative framework rather than a compliance measure. Maria Samoto le Dous, Uniqlo Europe’s head of sustainability, described the collaboration as demonstrating that fashion innovation can begin with rethinking existing materials rather than introducing new ones, framing the initiative as consistent with the brand’s LifeWear philosophy of extending clothing’s lifecycle and meaning.

The partnership draws on Central Saint Martins’ standing as a training ground for sustainability-oriented designers, with the brand positioning access to emerging circular design thinking as part of the collaboration’s value. Because no two pieces are produced identically, the collection operates outside Uniqlo’s usual logic of scale, offering a limited-run counterpoint to its core assortment.

The move arrives as mass-market retailers increasingly look to academic partnerships to credentialize sustainability efforts. Whether Uniqlo extends the model beyond London, or whether Everyday Re.Imagined remains a proof-of-concept, will indicate how seriously the brand intends to integrate circular design into its broader European strategy.
