Review of MSGM Spring 2022 Fashion Show
Picnics, wildflowers and a walk in the park.
By Lizzy Bowring
Fresh energy exudes from Massimo Georgetti’s MSGM collection this season. Although, if appearances deceive, I would say that it looks as if he has just had a long vacation, enjoying time with family, taking picnics and walks in fields of wildflowers; picnic gingham checks and wildflowers are his leitmotifs for print and pattern.
Picnics and wildflower fields aside, Georgetti’s energetic and vibrantly colourful collection was firmly placed in the 80s.
The designer was definitely in an upbeat mood, and it showed; the euphoria running throughout the presentation with vibrant colour and energetic summery silhouettes flowed through into some lovely light and breezy silhouettes.
As in most collections, knitwear is omnipresent. There were abbreviated little tops, covered in sweet ruffles, paired with low slung, hip-hugging knit rib pants or shorts, two-piece skirt sets.
Just as we have seen throughout the cities so far, plenty of bare skin and midriffs are exposed.
At MSGM, Georgetti’s idea of exposure came in a cropped hoodie worn under an oversized masculine blazer and knitted bra tops covered in sweet ruffles that are bound to become seasonal favourites.
And that wasn’t all with plenty of summery dresses revealing bare shoulders.
Picnic checks, large and small, were worn in juxtaposing contrasts, all drenched in the vibrant colours of acid pink and lime. As for wildflowers, these came scattered over asymmetrical tops, plissé skirts, pyjama sets. sweet little dresses and maxi dresses that will be perfect for summer evenings.
Georgetti’s collection was as his vacation, vibrant and refreshing.
