Chanel Opens A New Boutique In Aspen

On February 7th, 2022, CHANEL will open a new ephemeral boutique in the heart of one of the world’s most beloved mountain retreats: Aspen, Colorado. Located in the historically landmarked Benton Building, the 3,353-square foot boutique presents a collection of Ready-to-Wear, shoes, and handbags, along with Watches and Fine Jewelry and a selection of Fragrance and Beauty. This marks a return to Aspen after previous ephemeral boutique openings in 2014 and 2019.

The boutique beckons visitors off the slopes and into the world of CHANEL, with interiors that celebrate the heritage and timeless allure of the House. Through woven floor coverings, modern decorative accents, and creamy wool tweed couches topped with plush pillows in faux fur and tweed, the two floors of the boutique are awash in the signature CHANEL color palette — white and beige with flashes of black and gold — an echo of Mademoiselle Chanel’s legendary apartment at 31 rue Cambon.

In this intimate, elegant setting, visitors are invited to explore offerings from the Cruise 2021/22 collection as well as the Coco Neige collection, complete with all of the accessories necessary to enjoy an enriching Alpine escape, from goggles and gloves to skis and snow boots.

Globally recognized for the glamorous style of its denizens and a more than 50 year history as an off-duty celebrity playground, Aspen is the ideal backdrop for the House’s Fall-Winter 2021/22 collection which debuted last March at Paris’ legendary Left Bank nightclub Castel. The collection is a combination of two influences, says Artistic Director Virginie Viard: “The ambiance of ski holidays, which I adore, and a certain idea of cool Parisian chic, from the 1970s to now.” The powerful mix reverberates through the House’s logo-printed denim and fitted textured knits, finding a perfect home in the ski hamlet surrounded by the soaring Rocky Mountains.

The Coco Neige collection channels the House’s signature playful irreverence, rarely better shown than in quilted salopettes in black and white under a multicolored print made from the letters C, H, A, N, E, L. Logo-laden separates in leisurely silhouettes and stand-out shades like sapphire, aqua, and fuchsia are met with sleek black base layer tops printed with the House’s signature interlocking C’s in white or metallic type. Voluminous quilted puffers join sharp-shouldered fitted cropped ones inspired by the CHANEL jacket—a nod to Mademoiselle Chanel’s distinctive straight silhouette, making for unrestrained style both on and off the slopes.

A curated selection from the Cruise 2021/22 collection of trim jackets and denim printed with lucky talismans will also be available, all in the House’s favored shades of black and white, an enduring reference to CHANEL’s celebrated art of contrast.

Black and white sneakers and snow boots join accessories such as the pink CHANEL graffiti nylon quilted backpack, handbag, and mini flap bag on the first level. Both rendered in black and white and pops of brilliant color, these bags and small leather goods are designed to enable a sense of free movement and the House’s distinctly modern spirit of insouciance.

Guests can discover the J12 watch in black or white ceramic on the second floor of the boutique along with a selection from the Camélia and Coco Crush Fine Jewelry Collections, whose designs are inspired by the house’s ageless codes. Nearby are the House’s Fragrances, including the iconic CHANEL N ̊5, which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.
