The upcoming show continues the House’s longstanding relationship with Italy and its annual tribute to artisanal craftsmanship
Chanel will present its Métiers d’art 2027 collection in Rome on December 2, 2026, marking a new chapter in the House’s ongoing relationship with Italy under the direction of Matthieu Blazy.
The announcement reinforces the significance of Italy within Chanel’s history. Gabrielle Chanel first traveled to the country in 1920 and maintained close ties to its artistic and cultural landscape throughout her life. Rome, in particular, became a recurring destination, shaping her appreciation for Renaissance art, antiquities, and Italian cinema, influences that informed elements of her creative vision.
Introduced in 2002, the Métiers d’art collection is dedicated to showcasing the work of Chanel’s Maisons d’art, the specialized ateliers whose craftsmanship supports the House’s couture and ready-to-wear production. The annual presentation highlights techniques ranging from embroidery and featherwork to millinery and jewelry-making, positioning artisanal savoir-faire at the center of the collection.
The Rome presentation will continue the traveling format of the Métiers d’art shows, which have historically been staged in cities connected to Chanel’s cultural references and creative history. The upcoming collection will also mark one of Matthieu Blazy’s first major destination presentations for the House, further defining his direction within Chanel’s evolving narrative.
