This season of London Fashion Week marked the 40th anniversary of the event. The diverse display of fashion creativity that formed this historic milestone felt like a fitting celebration for a unique cultural force, reminding us of the city’s history as the most diverse and idiosyncratic of the fashion capitals while charting new courses for its future.
Though he typically shows men’s in Milan, JW Anderson made a quick return to London with a collection that was rife with his delightfully subversive and surrealist spirit.
Two of London’s most acclaimed younger designers who have a tendency to interrogate themes of femininity and power in their work – albeit through different perspectives – KNWLS and Dilara Fındıkoğlu both had strong showings that earned them a place in the Top 10.
But it’s Burberry that takes home the top spot, as Daniel Lee delivered his most polished and consistent collection for the house yet, fully honoring its classic spirit while subtly infusing it with an individualist and contemporary spirit.
