Sarah Harris Transitions To a Editor-At-Large at British Vogue

Condé Nast Continues to Shift Roles To Align With US Operations

There are significant changes at Condé Nast as its internal structure adjusts.

Sarah Harris, the Global Network Lead and European Deputy Editor for Vogue, has transitioned into a new role as Editor-At-Large after coming back from maternity leave. In 2018, Harris was promoted from her previous role as Fashion Features Director to Deputy Editor when Edward Enninful was editor in chief. Enninful exited his position in December.

Following Harris’ maternity leave last summer, Chioma Nnadi was named Head Of Editorial Content at British Vogue.

Julia Hobbs

With Harris leaving, her magazine responsibilities were divided among Vogue employees, Julia Hobbs and Laura Hawkins, who both assumed the roles of Acting European Fashion Features directors. Julia Hobbs will now maintain a new position as Fashion Features Director and will hold the title of Senior Fashion Projects Editor at Vogue Club, a role she was also performing while covering for Harris. Laura Hawkins will revert to her formerly held position as Fashion Features editor.

Funmi Fetto will be returning under Nnadi as Style Editor, having previously served as a Contributing Beauty Editor under Enninful.

Condé Nast is aligning its staff contracts with those of its U.S. counterparts, prohibiting employees from participating in paid partnerships that do not benefit the magazine. Harris, a widely popular figure in the British Vogue sphere with over 280,000 Instagram followers, has been renowned for her collaborations with brands like Prada, Rodial, Piaget, Gucci, and many others. As she takes on her new role, she’ll have additional freedom to pursue new ventures outside of Condé Nast.

Harris began at British Vogue in 2003 as fashion features editor, following a stint at WWD in London. She was among the top candidates for Nnadi’s position, alongside Mark Holgate, the Fashion News Director of American Vogue, and Mark Guiducci, Creative Editorial Director. Harris was the first Deputy Editor under Enninful, a role previously held by Emily Sheffield under former Editor-in-Chief Alexandra Shulman. Harris managed all fashion features and closely collaborated with Enninful, commissioning stories with senior editors and having an increased appearance at industry events, shows, and Vogue-related occasions.
