The K-Pop Star Joins the Brand’s Growing International Roster Ahead of Another Big Activation in Korea
Gucci has appointed South Korean singer and songwriter Kim Seok-jin – better known as Jin – of the immensely popular K-Pop group BTS as its newest global brand ambassador.
Jin, who recently served as an Olympic torchbearer for South Korea at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is the eldest member of BTS and the first to complete his country’s mandatory military service in June.
The brand’s creative director Sabato De Sarno praised Jin’s personality and style, saying,
He is a generous and extraordinary artist who is able to move people with his music.”
Jin has expressed his admiration for Gucci, stating, “It is meaningful and thrilling to be a part of such a house.” He joins other Korean brand ambassadors in representing the luxury brand.
Gucci is set to launch its “Gucci Cultural Month” initiative in Seoul on October 15, which aims to celebrate Korean culture by highlighting the work of local artists who have achieved global recognition.
BTS, since their debut in 2013, has achieved significant international success and has been credited with boosting the popularity of K-pop worldwide. According to Circle Chart, BTS is the bestselling group in South Korea with over 40 million albums sold globally. Jin, as a member of BTS, has co-written and released several successful solo tracks.
Recently, Jin was named as the first global ambassador for jewelry brand Fred and has collaborated with various brands, indicating his growing influence in the entertainment industry.
Looking ahead, Jin is working on new projects, including the release of an album in the second half of the year. BTS is expected to reunite in June 2025 once all members complete their military service obligations.
