Bvlgari Unveils Its Largest-Ever Exhibition in Japan with Star-Studded Tokyo Opening
Bvlgari has officially opened its largest exhibition to date in Japan, Bvlgari Kaleidos: Colors, Cultures and Crafts, at The National Art Center, Tokyo. The showcase, which runs from September 17, presents nearly 350 high jewelry creations and contemporary artworks, offering a kaleidoscopic exploration of color, craftsmanship, and the creative dialogue between Italy and Japan.
The evening began with an exclusive preview attended by notable guests including Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike, and Italian Ambassador Gianluigi Benedetti. Bvlgari’s global brand ambassadors Kim Ji Won, Jang Wonyoung, Hikari Mori, and Tomohisa Yamashita joined a cast of Japanese celebrities to mark the occasion, each styled in standout pieces from the house’s high jewelry collections.
From the Morganite Exuberance set to the modular Serpenti Shapeshifting Emerald necklace and the bold Chalcedony Sinuosity parure, the evening became a live tableau of Bvlgari’s mastery in gemstone composition and color. The looks were rounded out with haute horlogerie timepieces and symbolic brooches, adding layered meaning to the aesthetic showcase.
Inside the exhibition, visitors are invited to journey through three thematic chapters—The Science of Color, Color Symbolism, and The Power of Light—each offering a unique lens on Bvlgari’s use of chromatic storytelling. Archival treasures like the Seven Wonders necklace and 1960s sautoirs sit alongside early works from founder Sotirio Bulgari and new commissions by contemporary artists Lara Favaretto, Mariko Mori, and Akiko Nakayama.
The opening concluded with a gala dinner curated by Il Ristorante Niko Romito at the Bvlgari Hotel Tokyo. Held in the soaring atrium of the National Art Center, the evening featured a performance by pianist Roberto Cacciapaglia and vocalist Kanna Ogawa, capping off a multi-sensory celebration of artistry, heritage, and innovation.
