The Designer Is Buying Back the Paris-Based Brand From the Pinault Family’s Artémis Investment Group

Giambattista Valli is taking back full control of his namesake fashion house, marking a major new chapter for the independent Paris-based brand he founded more than two decades ago.
The Italian designer has reached an agreement to acquire full ownership of the company from Artémis, the investment arm of the Pinault family, which first acquired a minority stake in the business in 2017 before taking majority control in 2021. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“This agreement now enables me to fully regain control of my brand and to pursue its development with enthusiasm and energy,” Valli said in a statement. “I would like to thank Artémis for its support and commitment to the maison throughout all these years.”
Artémis said its partnership with Valli helped “structure the maison, expand its collections and strengthen its international presence.”
François-Henri Pinault, chairman of Artémis, described the collaboration as an opportunity to support “such a singular and demanding creative vision.”

“After years of an inspiring collaboration, a new chapter is now opening in this entrepreneurial adventure, and I wish Giambattista every success in the next stage of his journey,” Pinault added.
The agreement follows reports that Artémis had been exploring strategic options for the label in recent months. During that period, Valli canceled his haute couture presentation in January and did not present a fall 2026 ready-to-wear collection during Paris Fashion Week in March. At the time, the company said it was undertaking a broader reflection on the organization of the house to ensure its long-term sustainability.
Founded in Paris in 2005, the Giambattista Valli house became known for couture craftsmanship, dramatic tulle silhouettes and feminine eveningwear with a distinctly Parisian sensibility. Valli received official haute couture status in 2011 and quickly established a loyal international following.
Over the years, his designs have been worn by women including Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande and Amal Clooney, while his bridal creations have become an increasingly important part of the business in recent seasons.

Before launching his own label, the Rome-born designer held roles at Roberto Capucci, Fendi and Krizia before spending seven years overseeing ready-to-wear at Emanuel Ungaro.
Valli’s return to full ownership reflects a broader movement across luxury fashion, where independent designers are increasingly reassessing growth strategies and reclaiming creative and operational control over their businesses.
