Sforza appoints new CFO, head of sales, and introduces a purchasing role as part of Benetton’s restructuring and relaunch.
Benetton CEO Claudio Sforza is reinforcing his senior executive team as part of the ongoing restructuring and revitalization of the iconic Italian fashion brand. As of September 2, Cristina Girelli will step into the role of CFO, succeeding Iacopo Martini, while Paolo Venturini, formerly of Era Group, will take over as head of sales from Martino Boselli.
In a strategic move, Sforza has also introduced a new role within Benetton, appointing Vincenzo Meles as head of purchasing to manage all expenditure budgets. Meles brings extensive experience from major Italian companies such as Ilva and Natuzzi.
Since his appointment as CEO on June 18, Sforza has been diligently working on a comprehensive relaunch plan for Benetton, which is expected to be unveiled by autumn. The newly appointed team is comprised of executives with whom Sforza has previously collaborated at various stages in his career. Girelli and Meles worked with Sforza at Ilva, while Venturini served as head of sales at Postel during Sforza’s tenure as CEO from 2009 to 2011.
