Summer 2026 Ad Campaign

Salt Air

Review of Celine Summer 2026 Ad Campaign by Creative Director with Photographer Zoë Ghertner with models Betsy Gaghan, Davin Benson, Mona Tougaard, Nizar Marzouki, Valerie Margareta

Celine trades its usual urban crispness for something more atmospheric this season, and the shift feels both subtle and significant. Under Michael Rider’s direction, with Zoë Ghertner behind the lens and Charles Levai and Kevin Tekinel shaping the visual narrative, the Summer 2026 campaign drifts into a sun-bleached, seaside reverie—where the House’s codes are not abandoned, but gently loosened by the tide.

Ghertner captures the collection in a state of quiet suspension. The images feel caught between moments: a figure paused against the horizon, fabric lifting in the breeze, the suggestion of salt lingering on skin. The setting is unmistakably coastal—windswept, expansive, and slightly melancholic—where the light softens edges rather than sharpening them. Even the logo, resting on a towel, becomes less of a declaration and more of a whisper, absorbed into the rhythm of the scene.

Styling remains rooted in Celine’s signature precision, yet here it breathes differently. Tailoring is still exacting, but it moves—literally and metaphorically—against the elements. Silhouettes feel lighter, more fluid, as if shaped by wind rather than structure. The casting reinforces this mood: the models don’t pose so much as exist within the landscape, their presence blending into the environment rather than dominating it.

What’s particularly compelling is the campaign’s embrace of atmosphere over assertion. There’s a restraint in how the brand reveals itself—no overt theatrics, no heavy-handed storytelling—just a steady accumulation of mood. It’s a confident pivot, allowing the environment to carry part of the narrative, and in doing so, softening the House’s typically sharp edges into something more contemplative.

If there’s a note to consider, it lies in the balance between diffusion and distinction. The hazy, dreamlike quality is undeniably evocative, but it occasionally risks diluting the immediacy of the product. A touch more contrast—visually or emotionally—could sharpen the impact without sacrificing the mood.

Still, there’s an elegance in this restraint. Celine doesn’t shout summer—it exhales it. And like the tide, it leaves just enough behind to keep you looking a little longer.
