Chloé Reissues Tomato Chair With Poltronova During Milan Design Week 2026

The limited-edition relaunch revisits a 1970 design through the Maison’s contemporary lens under Creative Director Chemena Kamali

Chloé unveiled an exclusive re-edition of the Tomato chair in collaboration with Italian manufacturer Poltronova during Milan Design Week 2026. Originally designed in 1970 by French designer Christian Adam, the piece was presented at Via della Spiga 30 in Milan from April 22 to 26.

The Tomato chair emerged during a period of experimentation in design, associated with Italy’s Radical design movement, and proposed an alternative approach to seating through its soft, sculptural form. Defined by its rounded, organic silhouette, the design emphasized comfort and fluidity, moving away from rigid structures in favor of a more adaptable relationship between body and object.

Under the direction of Chemena Kamali, the re-edition was developed as part of Chloé’s broader expansion into design, extending the brand’s aesthetic into the home. The chair’s form was preserved, while its material execution was updated through contemporary production techniques. The piece was produced in naturally tanned leather and offered in four colorways: cream, cognac, sand, and black.

Originally manufactured in limited quantities, the Tomato chair has become a collectible design object. The new edition will be available on a made-to-order basis, maintaining its exclusivity while reintroducing the design within a contemporary context.

The project reflects Chloé’s continued engagement with design beyond fashion, positioning the re-edition within a broader exploration of lifestyle and material expression tied to the Maison’s current creative direction.
