Comme des Garçons Launches Made-in-Italy Handbags

The Launch Marks the Brand’s First Expansion Into the Higher-Priced Luxury Leather Goods Sector

Comme des Garçons has announced the launch of the first in a range of made-in-Italy handbags. Arriving at the Comme des Garçons flagship store in Paris later this week, the inaugural collection represents a notable expansion for the brand into higher-priced segments of the market.

Described as luxurious in both appearance and craftsmanship, the trapezoid-shaped handbags, available in small and medium sizes, signify the launch of a new line emphasizing the superior quality of Italian manufacturing and materials.

Following their debut at the Paris store located at 56 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, the Made in Italy handbags are scheduled to be introduced to all other Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market outlets worldwide within approximately a week.

The price range for these handbags reflects their elevated positioning, with small bags priced between 1,230 euros and 1,480 euros, while medium-sized bags reach up to 1,700 euros.

The majority of handbags offered by Comme des Garçons have traditionally been produced in Japan and typically retail for under 1,000 euros. The brand’s small leather goods, including its signature zippered wallets, are also manufactured in Japan.

Meanwhile, Kawakubo, along with her husband Adrian Joffe, who serves as the chief executive officer of Dover Street Market and president of Comme des Garçons International, are preparing for the upcoming opening of a Dover Street Market branch in Paris slated for early May.
