The new Quartz Shinsaibashi store strengthens Diesel’s presence in Japan with a two-floor retail concept shaped by industrial design and Glenn Martens’ brand codes.
Diesel has reopened its Osaka store in Japan, relocating the boutique to Quartz Shinsaibashi, a newly developed mixed-use complex in one of the city’s most active retail districts.
The new store, which opened on April 25, spans two floors and reflects Diesel’s evolving visual identity under creative director Glenn Martens. Positioned at 3-12-14 Minamisemba in Chuo-ku, the space reinforces the label’s presence in Japan while translating its industrial, disruptive attitude into a more immersive retail format.
The exterior is defined by a popcorn concrete façade featuring an oversized Diesel Biscotto logo, creating a high-impact architectural marker within the Shinsaibashi area. Inside, the store continues the industrial language through metal-clad walls, a monochromatic palette, and a red-lit staircase that connects the two levels. A red Biscotto logo visible through the second-floor windows adds a graphic focal point against the store’s more restrained material backdrop.
The first floor is dedicated to womenswear, while menswear is housed on the second floor. The opening also introduces an exclusive capsule collection created for the Osaka location, with ready-to-wear pieces and a particular emphasis on denim.
For Diesel, the reopening points to the continued importance of retail as a physical expression of brand positioning. Under Martens, the label has sharpened its identity around denim innovation, industrial attitude, and youth-driven provocation; the Osaka store extends that direction into architecture, using the store environment as both commercial space and brand signal.
The move also reflects the ongoing role of Japan as a key market for global fashion labels seeking consumers with a strong appetite for design-led retail and distinctive brand worlds. In Shinsaibashi, Diesel’s new location places the label within a high-traffic luxury and contemporary shopping district, strengthening visibility while giving the brand a more assertive platform in Osaka.
