Review of Givenchy Fall 2023 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Matthew M. Williams with Photographer Heji Shin with models Mona Tougard, Karolina Spakowski, Liu Wen
Givenchy continues its foray into a new era of elegance with its new Fall 2023 Women’s campaign by photographer Heji Shin.
The campaign follows a similar visual format as that of the recent Men’s campaign, although that campaign was photographed by creative director Matthew M. Williams himself, and featured just one star (K-Pop’s Taeyang).
Here, Shin turns her camera on three distinct and distinguished models – Mona Tougaard, Karolina Spakowski, and Liu Wen – as they pose in a simple interior space that recalls classic couture fashion photography, bringing the brand’s new synthesis of Parisian elegance and streetwise toughness to life.
While the campaign perhaps doesn’t offer much in the way of visual or conceptual depth (something that the brand might want to try for as its new identity is still feeling a bit hit-or-miss), it does offer a clear look at the house’s latest collection, which is bolstered by strong casting and a consistent visual tie-in with its brother campaign.
