Roger Vivier Expands Pièce Unique Into Footwear

The maison introduces one-of-a-kind bespoke shoes during Paris Haute Couture Week, extending its couture-inspired approach to personalization

Roger Vivier is expanding its ultra-exclusive Pièce Unique collection beyond handbags for the first time, introducing a collection of one-of-a-kind footwear during Paris Haute Couture Week. Conceived by Creative Director Gherardo Felloni, the initiative reinforces the French maison’s emphasis on craftsmanship and personalization, positioning footwear as a collectible expression of couture-level artistry rather than seasonal luxury merchandise.

Titled L’Atelier des Papillons, the Fall 2026 collection draws inspiration from two enduring Roger Vivier signatures: the sculptural Choc heel and the butterfly, one of founder Roger Vivier’s recurring design motifs. Each style is first created as a size 37 prototype for the house archive before a single pair is produced to a client’s exact specifications, making every design unique while preserving an archival record of the original concept.

The footwear expansion builds on the Pièce Unique program and follows the recent introduction of Roger Vivier’s made-to-order service at its Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré boutique in Paris. Felloni described the project as an opportunity to experiment more freely with materials, embroidery, and traditional techniques than conventional production typically allows, turning bespoke commissions into a space for creative research as much as client service.

The launch signals an evolution in how Roger Vivier approaches exclusivity. By extending Pièce Unique into footwear, the house transforms its core category into a platform for experimentation, archival preservation, and individual commission, underscoring how personalization is becoming an increasingly important expression of luxury craftsmanship rather than simply a customer service offering.
