Valentino Unveils “Anatomy of Dreams” Haute Couture Fragrance Collection

Seven Unique Scents Inspired By The Spirit Of Rome

Valentino has introduced a new line of “haute couture” fragrances, expanding its luxurious offerings. Owned by Mayhoola, the investment arm of Qatar’s ruling family, and partially by Kering, Valentino has launched “Anatomy of Dreams,” a collection inspired by the hedonistic spirit of Rome. “A narration of seven olfactive dreams for seven unique fragrances,” stated Valentino Beauty in a press release. Managed under license by L’Oréal since 2019, Valentino Beauty is led by Claudia Marcocci, who previously worked at Parfums Christian Dior and Gucci Beauty.

The collection comprises seven non-gendered fragrances with evocative names in Italian, French, and English, blending classical perfumery notes with Italian accords. “Sogno in Rosso” combines black pepper with a sweet milk foam accord, “Notto d’Oro” mixes almond with an oud accord, and “L’innocence de l’Air” pairs rose with green mandarin. Other scents include “Private Talk,” which combines tuberose with a cappuccino accord, “Club Couture” with patchouli and fig, “Punk Romantic” blending vanilla and olive wood, and “Behind the Seen” featuring vetiver and hazelnut.

Described as a “reverie crafted by the hands of the finest perfumers,” the collection embodies Italian memories while reflecting contemporary times. Although the project began before Alessandro Michele took over as Valentino’s creative director in March, it was developed under the former creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The fragrances have been meticulously crafted by renowned perfumers, including Fabrice Pellegrin, Nathalie Lorson, and Nicolas Bonneville for Firmenich, as well as Paul Guerlain, Carlos Benaïm, Andrew Everett, Fanny Ball, Delphine Lebeau, and Anne Flipo of International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF).

Valentino emphasizes the couture aspect by allowing customers to personalize their scent by mixing fragrances or adding one of the two enhancers: “Bianco 1968” with potent white musk notes created by Jordi Fernandez and “Rockstud Noir” with intense sandalwood notes designed by Daniela Andrier. These enhancers can be worn alone or layered with other scents, offering “23 dream blends from nine formulas,” according to Valentino Beauty.

The collection also features an innovative extraction process used for “Private Talk,” developed with Spain’s Cosmo International Fragrances. This method captures the scent directly from the ingredient in nature, specifically the tuberose fragrance molecule, without any transformation.

Sustainability is a focus in the packaging design. The rectangular bottles, produced in France and Italy, are made from 99% glass, including 15% recycled glass. The “Anatomy of Dreams” line will initially be available exclusively in Valentino boutiques, with a 100 ml bottle priced at €325.
