The latest Pasticcino Bag World Tour chapter spotlights Italian craftsmanship through collaborations with historic textile mill Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio and marble atelier Budri
Weekend Max Mara has unveiled the latest chapter of its Pasticcino Bag World Tour project, marking the accessory’s 10th anniversary with a new edition titled “Italian Roots.” Launching in May 2026, the collection turns its focus inward, celebrating the craftsmanship traditions, material heritage, and artisanal production that define Italian manufacturing.

First introduced as a traveling concept highlighting regional craft techniques from around the world, the Pasticcino Bag World Tour has become a platform for limited-edition collaborations rooted in local savoir-faire. For its fifth installment, Weekend Max Mara centered the project on Italy, drawing inspiration from the country’s architectural history, textile production, and decorative arts.
The collection features six numbered Pasticcino Bag editions created using fabrics sourced from Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio, the historic Florentine weaving mill founded by Giuseppe Lisio in 1906. Known for preserving traditional production methods for velvets, brocades, lampas, and damasks, the foundation supplied jacquard textiles inspired by Tuscan palazzos, Renaissance interiors, and marble architecture. The designs range from geometric black-and-white motifs to wave patterns and richly textured florals rendered in muted pinks, browns, ivories, and greens.
The collection also incorporates handcrafted marble closures developed in collaboration with Budri, the Italian marble atelier founded in 1961. Drawing from some of Italy’s most recognizable stones — including Bardiglio Carrara, Calacatta Belgia, Nero di Ormea, Portoro Extra, and Issogne marble — the closures extend the project’s emphasis on material authenticity and artisanal specialization. Select styles also feature marble inserts integrated into the bag’s metal frame closure.

By combining historic textile weaving with contemporary accessory design, the project reinforces Weekend Max Mara’s continued investment in craftsmanship-driven storytelling, an increasingly important strategy as luxury brands place greater emphasis on traceability, heritage, and collectible design objects. The limited-edition bags will debut alongside a dedicated launch event in May.
