Rowing Blazers Taps Laura Willensky as New CEO

Fashion Industry Veteran Takes Helm at Preppy Lifestyle Brand

Rowing Blazers has announced the appointment of Laura Willensky as its new CEO, taking over from Founder Jack Carlson. Willensky brings a wealth of experience from her time at J Crew and Madewell to her new role.

Founder Jack Carlson will remain as Creative Director, focusing on overseeing design and creative aspects of the brand. This leadership change comes after Rowing Blazers was acquired by Burch Creative Capital earlier this year.

Willensky has held key positions in major American fashion and lifestyle brands such as J Crew, Victoria’s Secret Beauty, Talbots, and Away. She has also been instrumental in the growth and success of brands like Madewell and Janie & Jack.

Expressing her vision for Rowing Blazers, Willensky stated, “I see a clear opportunity to grow the business through amazing products and an unmatched experience for our customers.” She aims to expand into new product categories and markets.

Rowing Blazers, founded by designer and former US national team rower Jack Carlson in 2017, has gained global recognition for its unique take on British and American style. The brand is known for its high-profile collaborations with luxury labels like Gucci and TAG Heuer.

Chris Burch, founder of Burch Creative Capital, praised Willensky’s expertise in apparel and merchandising, noting her potential to make a significant impact on the brand’s growth and community. The brand is working on expanding its women’s business, core offerings, and distribution channels while staying true to its vibrant and quality-driven ethos.

Burch Creative Capital, which acquired Rowing Blazers, is known for its portfolio of successful brands like Tory Burch, Staud, and BaubleBar. Willensky’s appointment is the latest in a series of strategic hires for the brand, following the recruitment of Grant Simm as CFO.
