Dior/Lindbergh Highlights the Longstanding Collaboration Between the House and the Iconic Photographer
Dior has announced plans to celebrate its enduring partnership with the late Peter Lindbergh through a special exhibition at the Galerie Dior in the brand’s flagship on Avenue Montaigne in Paris. The exhibition will include more than 100 images captured between 1988 and 2018, including unseen prints from a shoot in Times Square, and encompassing over 80 looks from the house’s archives.
According to the brand, “This artistic journey weaves a fascinating dialogue with the Dior silhouettes, offering a unique look at the expression of their architecture, essence, and allure.”
The renowned photographer, who passed away in 2019, notably photographed multiple Lady Dior campaigns with Marion Cotillard and a 2016 campaign for the J’adore Eau Lumière fragrance featuring Charlize Theron. For his final project with Dior in October 2018, Lindbergh depicted models such as Alek Wek, Karen Elson, and Irina Shayk in vintage Dior creations within New York City, capturing the city’s vibrant essence.
Notably, Lindbergh noted, “While haute couture is closely linked with an idea of perfection and the mastery of every detail, I wanted to transport 70 years of Dior creations to an unexpected place.”
The images from the exhibition, named “Dior/Lindbergh,” showcase a mix of haute couture and ready-to-wear looks for both men and women that Lindbergh captured for various publications.
The exhibit is set to run from October 17 to May 4. A book with the same title was published by Taschen in 2019.
