A New Collection Reinterprets The House’s 1980S Denim Line Through A Contemporary Lens
Emporio Armani is returning to one of its most accessible and culturally resonant chapters with a new capsule collection centered on denim, revisiting the codes of Armani Jeans nearly four and a half decades after its launch.
Originally introduced in 1981, Armani Jeans was conceived as a more casual extension of the Armani universe, translating the designer’s understated elegance into an everyday wardrobe anchored in denim. At a moment when the category was largely defined by American workwear traditions, Armani brought a distinctly European, metropolitan sensibility—refining silhouettes, softening structures, and elevating denim into a more polished proposition.
The new capsule revisits that legacy with a focused selection of men’s and women’s pieces, including jeans and denim jackets in a range of washes from light to deep indigo. Rather than reproducing archival styles directly, the collection reframes them through subtle adjustments in proportion, cut, and finish, aligning with the brand’s ongoing emphasis on precision and restraint.
At the center of the offering is the five-pocket jean, a foundational element of the original Armani Jeans line. Here, it is reworked with cleaner lines and a more considered balance between structure and ease, reflecting Emporio Armani’s contemporary design language. Jackets follow a similar approach, maintaining familiar references while introducing a sharper, more tailored sensibility.
The accompanying lookbook, photographed by Bruno Staub, reinforces this dialogue between past and present.
