The Actor Joins National Geographic Creativeworks To Explore Marine Stewardship And Ocean Education

Prada continues to expand its narrative around sustainability with the latest chapter of its Re-Nylon initiative, unveiling the second documentary in its 2026 series created in collaboration with National Geographic CreativeWorks. Titled Stewards of the Ocean: Hawai’i, the film stars British actor Letitia Wright, who travels to the Pacific island state to explore its fragile and unique marine ecosystem.
Best known for her roles in Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Wright has emerged as one of her generation’s most visible screen talents, bringing a thoughtful presence to projects that intersect culture and global issues. In Hawai’i, she turns her attention to the ocean, immersing herself in a landscape where nearly a quarter of marine species are endemic, found nowhere else on Earth.
The documentary centers on the Hawaiian concept of Mālama ʻĀina — a philosophy rooted in caring for both land and sea — which shapes a way of life built on balance and coexistence. Wright explores this ethos alongside Titouan Bernicot, Founder of Coral Gardeners and Sea Beyonder, as well as Goodwill Ambassador of the project. Through his non-profit organization, supported by Sea Beyond, Bernicot works to restore coral reefs, offering a direct view into conservation efforts beneath the surface.
Wright also engages with Dr. Kapono Ciotti, Director of the Pacific American Foundation, a partner of the Hawai’i Blue Schools Hui. The initiative forms part of the Blue School Global Network coordinated by UNESCO, connecting institutions worldwide that integrate ocean education into their curricula.

Through a two-year educational journey, the Hawai’i Blue Schools Hui fosters ocean literacy through place-based projects that reflect the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage. Students are encouraged to become active custodians of marine environments, developing both scientific understanding and a personal connection to the waters that surround them. This educational framework has been made possible through Sea Beyond, Prada Group’s initiative developed in partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO.
As of July 2023, one percent of proceeds from the Prada Re-Nylon for Sea Beyond Collection are directed toward supporting the program, reinforcing the brand’s long-term investment in ocean preservation and education.
