Cecilie Bahnsen and Uniqlo Debut Romantic LifeWear Collaboration

The “Shapes of Poetry” collection merges sculptural femininity with everyday comfort across womenswear and childrenswear

Uniqlo has launched its first collaboration with Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen, bringing the designer’s romantic silhouettes and handcrafted sensibility into dialogue with the retailer’s LifeWear philosophy for Spring/Summer 2026.

Titled Shapes of Poetry, the collection combines Bahnsen’s signature feminine detailing — including floral motifs, voluminous sleeves, frills, and shirring — with Uniqlo’s focus on practicality, comfort, and accessible everyday dressing. The lineup spans dresses, tops, skirts, and coordinated separates designed to function both as statement pieces and wearable wardrobe staples.

For Bahnsen, whose work often balances couture-like construction with ease and utility, the partnership reflects a shared interest in clothing intended to be lived in rather than reserved for occasionwear alone. “I’ve always designed pieces to be lived in, worn and cherished every day, just as all Uniqlo LifeWear embodies,” the designer said.

The collaboration also marks Bahnsen’s first dedicated girls’ collection, developed in part through her perspective as a mother. Dresses, T-shirts, and skorts reinterpret the adult silhouettes in more playful proportions while maintaining an emphasis on functionality through adjustable waists, elastic materials, and practical pocket construction.

The partnership traces back to an early meeting between Bahnsen and Uniqlo executives around the retailer’s Copenhagen expansion in 2019. According to Fast Retailing Group Senior Executive Officer Yukihiro Katsuta, the collaboration evolved from a long-standing admiration for Bahnsen’s approach to craftsmanship and materiality.

Campaign imagery photographed by Louise and Maria Thornfeldt emphasizes themes of sisterhood and intimacy central to Bahnsen’s broader creative universe, reinforcing the collection’s softer, more personal perspective on contemporary dressing.

By pairing Bahnsen’s elevated romanticism with Uniqlo’s global reach and functional design ethos, the collaboration continues the growing intersection between independent luxury designers and mass-market retail, where craftsmanship and accessibility increasingly operate side by side.
