Saint Laurent Supports Charlotte Gainsbourg’s First Photography Exhibition

Supported by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, the exhibition presents previously unseen photographs of Serge Gainsbourg’s Paris home before its transformation into a museum

Charlotte Gainsbourg will present her first photography exhibition, 5bis, at the 57th edition of the Rencontres d’Arles photography festival. Supported by Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello and Maja Hoffmann, the exhibition is curated by Matthieu Humery and will be on view at La Galerie du Cloître in Arles from July 6 through September 6, 2026, before traveling to the Saint Laurent Rive Droite boutique in Paris beginning September 24.

The exhibition features more than twenty previously unseen photographs taken by Charlotte Gainsbourg inside 5bis Rue de Verneuil, the longtime Paris home of her father, Serge Gainsbourg. Captured with her Hasselblad camera just before the residence opened as Maison Gainsbourg, the museum dedicated to the celebrated singer, songwriter, poet, and actor, the intimate images explore the intersection of memory, family, and place.

Conceived as both a personal document and an artistic reflection, 5bis transforms familiar interiors into evocative portraits of remembrance, tracing the emotional presence of a home that shaped Charlotte Gainsbourg’s childhood while preserving the legacy of one of France’s most influential cultural figures.

The exhibition is accompanied by 5bis, a publication from Saint Laurent Editions available in three versions: a standard edition of 1,000 copies, a limited edition of 15 books each paired with five silver gelatin prints, and nine artist’s editions featuring an additional silver gelatin print alongside handwritten text by Charlotte Gainsbourg. Together, the exhibition and book mark a new creative chapter for Gainsbourg, translating personal memory into photographic expression.
