Dior Museum Highlights the Journey of the House’s Visionary Founder

Christian Dior, visionary designer will Transform the Dior Museum in Granville to Recount the Chapters of the Designer’s Creative Odyssey

Following the success of Christian Dior, a creator’s genius, the Christian Dior Museum in Granville has opened a new exhibition that explores the designer’s influential work in connection with the phases of his life and travels. This journey is narrated through a selection of previously unseen pieces.

The first chapter of the exhibition centers around Dior’s childhood home in Villa Les Rhumbs, overlooking the English Channel. Objects on view tell the story of the designer’s youth in this place where he first discovered his love of art and design, and, through his mother Madeleine, of gardens and flowers.

The second chapter follows Dior to Paris in the 1920s, tracing through sketches and snapshots the influence of the city and its architecture on his creative vision, and culminating in the opening of his atelier in 1947, where he famously created his New Look.

The final chapter connects the designer’s love of travel to the house’s current practice of destination resort shows under the creative direction of Maria Grazia Chiuri, and highlights looks influenced by global cultural exchange.

The exhibition is open at the Christian Dior Museum in Granville from April 6th through November 3rd.
