Palm Angels x Missoni Capsule Collection

Luxury Streetwear House Palm Angels Launches Urban Safari Capsule With Missoni

Luxury streetwear house Palm Angels will be releasing a capsule with Missoni. The playful approach combines style codes that reflect the DNA of both brands. The end result is an elevated streetwear collection, with an urban safari feel.

Founder and creative director of Palm Angels, Francesco Ragazzi worked closely with Angela Missoni on the capsule. They tapped into the Missoni archives to create a tropical-flavored clash of the two brands. Although the collection is not genderless, it was designed to be fluid and natural.

Missoni is an authentic landmark of Italian creation and artisanal know-how. With this collaboration we wanted to offer a different take, my own take actually, on the Missoni heritage. A fusion of both DNAs, with an urban, relaxed feel.

— Francesco Ragazzi, Founder of Palm Angels

Ragazzi builds on the existing patterns, lengths, colors, and shapes of Missoni, following a unique yet simple method – he switches fabrics, volumes, or details, turning the familiar into something surprising. Boxy tailoring is accented by smudging spray paint; tracksuits and zip-up cardigans come in Missoni patterns, and oversized t-shirts double as dresses. Berets, sneakers, sandals, and totes round out the capsule to intensify its subcultural flavor.

The house of Missoni described the merging of the two brands as “natural but unexpected.” Beachwear and sportswear have consistently been a part of Missoni’s DNA. Missoni’s father was an Olympic runner, so the brand’s heritage has always included tracksuits, which happen to be a Palm Angels signature.

I have been drawn to Francesco’s work with Palm Angels from the very beginning, for its unique energy. My parents founded Missoni on an open mindset: a pioneering spirit that I brought forward through all the collaborations I developed over the years. I am particularly proud of how fresh and spontaneous the dialogue with Palm Angels came out.

Milan-born Ragazzi started Palm Angels in 2011 as photographic documentation of LA’s skater culture. The endeavor evolved into a book, published by Rizzoli in 2014, and subsequently into a clothing line in 2015. Palm Angels stem from an Italian take on American culture and subcultures.

The Palm Angels x Missoni capsule will be available on both Palm Angels and Missoni’s websites and from select retailers starting June 30.
