The 1992 classic gets reworked with unpadded suede and JJJJound’s signature touches
OTW by Vans and design studio JJJJound have unveiled a refined new take on the iconic Half Cab silhouette. Stripping away its skate-specific padding and embracing a minimalist ethos, the collaboration reimagines the classic shoe for a more lifestyle-driven audience.
Originally introduced in 1992, the Half Cab was born out of skater innovation—when street skaters began cutting down the original Caballero high-top for better mobility and performance. This latest version pays homage to that rebellious spirit while embracing a more understated, versatile design language.
The OTW by Vans x JJJJound Half Cab is offered in two subtle colorways: black suede and a muted burgundy suede. Both styles feature an off-white sole, tongue, and laces, complemented by JJJJound’s signature nylon tongue—adding a clean, tactile contrast to the soft suede uppers.
By removing the traditional padding and emphasizing elevated materials, the collaboration bridges the gap between skate heritage and contemporary design. The result is a Half Cab that honors the past while stepping confidently into new terrain.
