Zadig & Voltaire Announces Major Leadership Change

Founder Thierry Gillier Takes Over as Artistic Director from Cecilia Bömström, while Arnaud Gillier Takes Over as President from Rémy Baume

Zadig & Voltaire has announced two major changes in leadership. Thierry Gillier, the brand’s founder, will take over the role of artistic director as well as overseeing the brand’s design studio. Current artistic director Cecilia Bönström will depart, effective immediately.

Meanwhile, his brother Arnaud Gillier has taken on the role of president of the company, taking the reins from Rémy Baume over the course of a transitional period that will run through the end of February.

Baume joined Zadig & Voltaire in 2020 from children’s fashion group Kidiliz, taking a stake in the company. According to the owners, “under his leadership, the company will have passed a significant growth milestone and put in place solid and committed teams”.

Cecilia Bönström, has served as the accessible luxury brand’s creative director since 2006, leaving behind a longer chapter. “She will leave her indelible mark on the history of the brand. I am very grateful to Cecilia for having paved the way for the success of the house, which will enable the brand to continue to grow,” says Thierry Gillier of his former partner.

The exact creative direction of the brand under Gillier’s artistic leadership remains to be determined. The founder has stated he’s open to the possibility of bringing on a fashion creative director, who he says will not be a marquee name, and is looking to usher the brand into a new era while nodding back to its rock-&-roll roots, as well as eyeing expansion into new categories.
