The Brand Sponsors the Art World Event and Brings the Work of Hasani Sahlehe to a T-Shirt
Stone Island is continuing its partnership with Frieze, acting as a sponsor of Frieze Focus and bringing special artist collaborations at Frieze art fair events around the world, beginning with New York.
For the first in the new series, Stone Island created special uniform T-shirts for Frieze personnel to wear at the fair, featuring the artwork of an artist exhibiting at Frieze Focus, where Stone Island is the Official Partner. The featured artwork will be “Trying Green” by artist Hasani Sahlehe, whose work was shown with Tif Sigrids gallery. Stone Island will acquire the artwork by Sahlehe, to be donated to The Georgia Museum of Art.
As well as the printed personnel uniform T-shirt, Stone Island has also created 50 hand-painted T-shirts inspired by Sahlehe’s work. The T-shirt, created in close collaboration with the artist, will be gifted during Frieze New York to members of the Stone Island community, as well as to supporters of emerging arts.
Throughout Frieze New York, Stone Island further amplified its commitment to emerging artists by releasing a short film about Sahlehe and his work on its social media channels. Then, to conclude Frieze week in New York, Stone Island co-hosted a celebration dinner with New York magazine at Carbone on Sunday 5 May, inviting all the participating galleries and artists showing in the Focus section.
The Stone Island personnel T-shirt for Frieze, featuring Hasani Sahlehe’s work, confirms our commitment to young artists and the emerging art community. From the beginning, Stone Island has created meaningful connection with the garments we produce. This personnel uniform T-shirt allow Sahlehe’s work to be seen not just in the Focus section of Frieze New York, but across the whole fair.”
– Robert Triefus, CEO of Stone Island
The uniform T-shirt series will run for the next six Frieze art fairs around the world, each featuring a work by an artist being shown in the Focus section of Frieze, dedicated to emerging galleries founded twelve years ago or less.
